Sudoku Break

How to use Sudoku Break

Play a puzzle

Fill each row, column and 3 × 3 box with 1–9 without repetition. Starting clues cannot be edited. Select an empty cell, then use the number pad or keyboard. Notes pencil in possibilities; Erase, Undo and Redo help with changes.

Hints and new puzzles

Get a hint explains a single candidate where possible, or labels an answer as a solution reveal. It only enters a value when you choose Place number. Check entries reports mistakes. Levels use 44, 36 or 30 starting clues; these are clue counts, not calibrated difficulty ratings.

Save on this device only

Save here manually stores one puzzle in this browser for this website origin. It is optional and is not an account or cloud save. Restore reads that local save. Delete saved game removes it after confirmation without erasing the open puzzle. Nothing syncs to another device, browser or website address; browser data clearing may remove it. Moving from the hub to a separate address will not transfer the old save. Only versions with Download save can create portable backups.

Move your own progress

Open Move a save file, choose Download save, and keep the JSON file. On another Sudoku Break address choose Import save and select that file. Import verifies the puzzle and asks before replacing progress. Cancel keeps the current game. Undo history starts fresh; choose Save here to retain the imported puzzle in this browser. Import does not replace the browser save automatically. Files are read locally, never uploaded. Use a Sudoku Break file no larger than 32 KB; other games and unsupported formats are rejected. The old hub cannot produce this format unless its own code has this feature.

Keyboard

Arrow keys move between cells. Type 1–9 to enter; N toggles notes; Delete erases; Ctrl/⌘ Z undoes, with Shift for redo. Tab moves between controls.
